Inspired by Jody Paulsen 2

Inspired by South African artist Jody Paulsen, Lalela artists created colorful collages that represent their generation. The artists looked a iconography from popular culture such as branding, packaging, logos, and slogans and reinterpreted them to create a simple pattern that represents youth culture.

Madeline Bosch, the 14 year old artist, lives in the Hangberg community in Hout Bay, Western Cape. She is a quiet young girl who has used her creativity at Lalela as a means of self-expression. The confidence Madeline gained through her mastery in art has translated into her everyday life.
